“Finch” imagines the book jacket design for a fictitious young adult novel examining themes of flight, freedom, and family. Its modern application of the traditional American red, white, and blue—the substituted radical red, sky blue, and cloud white—subvert the expectations of American patriotism to bring a fresh perspective. While America is lauded as the land of the free, the average citizen is too often prevented from fulfilling the American Dream because of inherent obstacles in the country’s very foundations.
